Best In CES 2012 Wrap Up

The doors finally closed on CES 2012, yesterday and the show has ended for the year. The question; Was there a WOW factor at this years CES? I have read through a lot of things and reviewed images leaving me to believe the answer is going to be no. Maybe I have been doing this for sometime now, knowing what to expect with bars being raised year after year in technology. Don’t get me wrong there was some advancement and some great tech gadgets on the showroom floor but I felt that major companies are holding back. Now that is my opinion and feel free to share your opinion by posting a comment or experience at CES 2012, with all that said lets take a look back at this years CES.

With over 150,000 people in attendances, 3,100 exhibitors and 20k product launches; four days is just not enough time to see everything in a 1.8 million sq foot show room. There were many products to review that I couldn’t possible cover over the four days alone but from what I have covered it has been a decent year in products. For those products that I have missed; I would like to apologize and possible cover some of them during their launch over the next year. Last year the market was dominated by the mobile industry in concerns phones and tablets but this year that trend continues in that market with ultrabooks added. It seems today that everyone had a mobile processor, phone, tablet and ultrabook; that it is hard to pick from. What are your thoughts for the best in show at CES 2012? Which product are you wanting to try to get? Which product is most innovated?

As for the media covered heavily on new screen technology from crystal LED to OLED to Super OLD in 1080p to 4k and 8k Smart TVs. Advancing technology in the television includes higher resolutions, better screens and Smart TV Applications has been the buzz of CES 2012 Media Press. My pick for Best in Show (Media Edition) is the Samsung Super OLED 55 Inch 3D Smart TV with Motion / Voice Controls. Although I do not believe the market has been adapted to motion control TV but it is in the step to the future into unexplored territory. Microsoft started this with the XBOX Kinect; Samsung will bring it to market built into a TV this year with fewer features. Moving on to Best in Show (Non Media Edition); my pick for this would be the AR Drone 2.0 which is a wireless controlled helicopter that records 720 HD video. This is a product that I would purchase on launch date as I have many video projects that could use such a device. Those are my two picks for best in show this year, I would like to take this time to thank the CEA (Customer Electronic Association) and exhibitors for putting on a great safe show this year.

This concludes my coverage of CES 2012 and please feel free to comment on any of these post with your best picks or experiences of CES 2012. Please be sure to stay tune to this website as I will be covering more in technology throughout the year and also looking to possible do setup a web cast for 2013 CES along with other show; more details to come later on this.
