Today the doors have opened on the final day of CES 2012. What is left to cover in technology? What made us laugh and cry this year at CES 2012? Today, I will cover some of the oddest funniest tech toys of this years CES from the floor. Have you ever though about doing a movie from the sky or sending 3D objects around the world over the internet, while now you can with the latest in tech toys and more.
Lets start with small computers, the size of a credit card or cube. These powerful little devices have made the show room floor this year at CES 2012 beginning with the Cube. This 4 inch square computer can be linked together and combined to form a load balancing computer. The technology has been made possible by a company called Xi3 and are available now for $849. The next to fit the small computer category is the makings of Raspberry Pi with their Linux-based credit card size computer. They promised a price range of under $50 and would be available possible late 2012. As for the pros of this type of technology, will increase the portability of a computer along with introducing the computers into low-income areas and the education system. Not sure if it will be a big hit but they are here at CES to demonstrate the endless possibilities.
From small computers to sending 3D objects around the world. A company Makerbot has introduce a 3D Wax Based Printer into the market, this technology has been rumored and is available in high-end markets. The printers are still priced out of most consumers range with a price tag of $1100 to $1800 and is available now. The idea of this is that, you will be able to print 3D object using wax type material but don’t expect it to take just seconds as the printer can take hours to complete an object or puzzle. The technology is advance for its time but as digital rushes in will it have time to grow and catch on, only time will tell.
Next to the air, have you ever wanted to direct a movie from 100 feet in the air or even spy on your neighbor. A company called Parrot is making that possible right now with their newest version of drones, the AR Drone 2.0. This wireless remote control helicopter has a range of 50 meters and a full features 720p HD recording capability. The Drone is controlled and recorded through your smart phone and will be available to ship to you soon. Why should the military be the only one with this type of technology? But a bit of advice be careful what you record as you just may not want to see everything. This is something I would definitively be interested in getting to demonstrate for my website.
As the doors begin to close at CES 2012 and many are packing up to leave, I would like to mention one more item that has caught my eye. Haier Transparent TV, as TV are becoming smarter and this new TV is strictly a prototype concept it is worth mention. But the flat screen LCD TV is slightly transparent with endless possibilities you just may see these being used as a in store digital display. No word on availability or even entering into the consumer market but it is for sure a toy to watch for in the future. With all that said this does conclude my CES 2012 coverage for today, be sure to stop by tomorrow as I do a CES 2012 Wrap Up.
